First Timer’s Guide To Buying Art.

Are you nervous about buying a piece of art? Read my advice before making any decision.

Give yourself time.

Time to look; time to discuss; time to decide where a work is best hung; Time to think and to ask vital questions. Paintings and drawings should not be bought in a hurry. Browse various galleries and artists’ web-sites. Visit local art exhibitions and art shows.

Talk with artists.

Consider where do you would like to hang an art work.

Impact

Think about the impact potential drawing or painting
will have on your home or office.
Ask the artist if the price is negotiable?
Perhaps the work is available as an inexpensive Limited Edition Print?

Learn a little about art. Not just about the famous names but the quality of a range of artists’ work, their ability to draw correctly, their accuracy with perspectives, their application of colour irrespective of the medium they work in and, importantly, their neatness of presentation.

Where to hang?

Please do not bang a nail into a wall, hang up a work, and hope it will look all right. It probably will not!
Remember these few simple but critical points, and enjoy your piece of art for a long long time.

.... And remember to enter my free
Fine Art Print Competition.
